The netX 500 has been on the market since November 2005 as the first member of the netX family. This was followed at the end of 2007 by the netX 50 and netX 100.
Up to now 73 companies use this technology in their products and a further 35 are in the evaluation phase. Most designs are in Germany followed by Japan. Real-Time Ethernet interfaces for motion controllers was the most used application and highlights the advantage of being able to implement in its devices all relevant Real-Time Ethernet systems in a single design.
With the signing of the netX Technology User Agreement, 41 companies have licensed the offered protocol stacks.
A poll in June 2008 forecast use of the netX controllers 50 / 100 / 500 in total of 400,000 ASICs after Ramp Up phase. However because of the market introduction of the Real-Time Ethernet this is much longer than for the design into the established markets This is more than compensated for by a technology life cycle of more than 15 years in the conservative market of automation technology.
